Avalanche Conditions Report #9

We are back with Dave and Backcountry Skiing Canada to deliver you our 9th Avalanche Conditions Report of the Season. Some key highlights to be aware of:

  • Warmer temperatures on Tuesday created moist snow up to 2150m on all aspects and elevations.
  • Yesterday we saw intermittent rain to the top of Ymir Peak, this created a loose wet avalanche problem.
  • Size 2.5 and size 2 avalanches on Evening Ridge.
  • 1cm - 2cm thick crust on top of everything from temperatures dropping in the evening which will help to bridge lower instabilities.
  • 5cms overnight.
  • Avalanche Canada is calling the hazard moderate in Alpine, Treeline, and Below Treeline.
  • We are going into a warming trend that will break down crust on solars and potentially elevate the hazard in the alpine.
  • Closing day is April 3rd.

As always play safe out there!
