Sun is Shining
For many folks, there comes a point somewhere along the winter timeline when all you want is a little sunshine. When you work in town, the mountains are hidden behind a layer of clouds ?? clouds that have banned the sun from showing its cheery face. Last week I had about enough of this ??hiding the sun??business from said clouds. I wanted some time with bright solar rays; the only place I could think to go was up.
As I zoomed up the road toward Whitewater, the clouds persisted until just a few minutes after turning off from the highway. I spotted a peak touched by golden sun. "So it does still exist!" I thought to myself, reveling in that happy feeling the sun can evoke. Arriving at Whitewater, my spirits soared. Sun ?? everywhere. Billowy clouds floated in a deep blue sky, reflecting the sun in their folks. People milled around the lift lines with smiles just as bright as that big ol??ball of light in the sky. And other than people laughing and chatting with each other, there was a peaceful stillness that quieted my mind of the deadlines and worries that had been jostling for attention back in town. I felt rejuvenated, alive, alert, and strangely clean. Taking a few runs, I felt the softness of snow and heard the laughter of children as they trailed instructors or toppled each other over a skis. This is what I had been missing by spending long days in back in town: a winter wonderland of folks sporting rosy cheeks and smiles. Head up to the mountains, my friends. Bring your skis and play. Create some sunny winter memories to replace the gray clouds below. Trust me, you'll feel those spirits of yours soar, too.
