There's a Storm Coming! - Avalanche Conditions Report #4

We are back with Backcountry Skiing Canada to deliver you our 4th Avalanche Condition Report of the Season.

New this week, we have a storm slab which is 10-20cm thick that is sitting on a small surface hoar buried on Dec 30th, and below this is another surface hoar layer buried on Dec 25.

If you have yet to check the forecast for this weekend, you probably should, we are starting the New Year off with a bang! On Friday we have a storm coming through, and then another bigger storm coming on Saturday and that will make this storm slab even more reactive.

Currently, we are still concerned with the Dec 8 crust and Dec 13 surface hoar which are now down 70-100cm, and with this new load coming in there is potential for step down avalanches to this Dec 8/13 layer.

If you are heading up to the resort for this storm cycle please remember to check up on our covid policies: https://skiwhitewater.com/covid-19/

Happy New Year everyone - as always, play safe out there, and we will see you next year!
