Kootenay Forest Bathing w/ Natasha Hall

Join Natasha Hall, a certified forest therapy guide, on a sensorial exploration of nature. Discover exquisite landscapes at your own leisurely pace, letting your senses guide your journey.

Forest Bathing sessions are gentle walks usually lasting about two and a half hours with guided sensory based nature connection activities (referred to as ‘invitations’) to help quiet the mind and restore balance. These walks follow a standard sequence as defined by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. Between invitations, participants gather together and have the opportunity to share their experiences with the group. Forest Bathing walks conclude with tea enjoyed from locally-foraged indigenous plants.

Open Air Pottery Workshop w/ Ovo Ceramic Studio

Elevate your artistic skills in a unique hands-on experience with Fabiana Chagas, owner of Ovo Cermaic Studio in Nelson. In this pinched bowl workshop, you'll be invited to explore the art of pottery as you create two exquisite pinched bowls entirely by hand.

Under Fabiana’s expert guidance, you’ll learn the techniques of shaping, pinching, and texturing clay to craft your personal bowls. Once your creations are shaped and colored to your liking, they will be carefully glazed and fired by Fabiana, ensuring a professional finish. Evening Flow Yoga w/ Sarah Story

Join us for a Flow Yoga session with Sarah Story under the evening gaze of Ymir Peak.

This mindful practice explores the full body in a flow of deliberate movement, playfully weaving together sequences of postures linked with the breath. Expect a rejuvenating and calming practice to close out the day and an opportunity to connect intuitively to your body, mind, and breath.

Sunset & Stargazing Guided Hike w/ Kootenay Backcountry Guides

Saturday, August 24: 7:00pm - 11:00pm

Join Judson Wright of Kootenay Backcountry Guides for a guided sunset hike followed by a stargazing session. Discover the native flora around Whitewater and learn how to identify constellations under the night sky. 

This hike covers 4.5km with 450m of elevation gain and will proceed at a relaxed pace. Lace up your hiking boots, grab a picnic blanket and a headlamp, and get ready to see Whitewater from a whole new perspective.

Each camping add-on covers up to 4 people per forest campsite or 8 people per RV campsite. If multiple retreat participants plan to stay together at the same campsite, only one person in the group needs to buy the add-on; the others can simply purchase their event registration. Family and friends not participating in the retreat are welcome to stay at the campground under the package purchased by a registrant.

Ymir Peak Scramble w/ Kootenay Backcountry Guides

Sunday, August 25: 9:00am - 3:00pm

Stand atop the highest point in the Nelson Range, the iconic Ymir Peak.

On this adventure lead by Judson Wright of Kootney Backcountry Guides, you'll experience breathtaking views as you conquer the 8km trek with 900m of elevation gain. Learn about the rich history and nature of the Kootenays, and discover the region's mountain ranges, river valleys, and the diverse plants and animals that inhabit them.

This hike is suitable for ages 13 and up, and requires a good fitness level. Expect to be out among the peaks for about 6 hours!

Sounding Circle w/ April Lavine

Sunday, August 25: 10:00am - 12:00pm

April Lavine will guide a workshop in which participants gather in the round and sound with breath and voice. One at a time, any person who feels inspired sits or lies in the centre of the circle. The group feels what the person needs to hear and organically creates sound through voice and musical instrumentation. The sounding circle creates a space for individuals who want to delve deeper into human communication.

This space allows everyone to listen and be mindful, creating community through musical collaboration in a beautiful, forested setting. It is both intentional and improvisational and it is the perfect setting to learn how to trust your musical intelligence.

Plein Air Watercolour Workshop w/ Josie Michaud

Unleash your creativity with the guidance of Josie Michaud, a former Whitewater Artist in Residence and talented Kootenay artist. Hosted on the Hummingbird Lodge Patio, you'll be filled with inspiration as you look out on the surrounding peaks.

Whether you're an experienced painter or a complete beginner, this is the perfect opportunity to explore your artistic side and build your confidence with watercolours in a fun and relaxed setting.
