Avi Days Transceiver Comp

If you didn't head up to Whitewater this past weekend you missed plenty of events, sculptures and even a nude lap on the Blast by a gang of unknown skiers. One of the annual Avi Days events is the Transceiver Competition held in the BCA Transceiver  Basin just west of the lodge. If you have not ventured out to take a look at this mystery area, do yourself a favour and ask at guest services how you can test your own transceiver skills anytime during normal operation hours. It's free and you'll likely learn a bunch. Back to the Avi Days Transceiver Comp, it turns out that everyone walked away with some big prizes from the event sponsors BCA and Backcountry Skiing Canada. Participants were challenged to find any two of eight buried transceivers and it turned out that the title now belongs to the Dutch team. Fear not, there is always next year. However you choose to brush up on your avalanche rescue skills just be sure and do it. As they say "use it or loose it". Enjoy the backcountry, be safe, be prepared. Backcountry Skiing Canada
