Latest update on Glory Ridge Chair
The excitement is building up here at Whitewater and in the Nelson area with the new Glory Ridge Chair installation. Valhalla Helicopters were just up assisting the crew, keeping everything on schedule to have the towers put up later this month. One project that has just been completed is the installation of the electrical cable from the base of the lift to the top of the lift. 2154 feet of cable, not a small feat! This cable will deliver power to the Glory Ridge Chair, a Dopplemayr triple top drive lift and will energize the future upgrade of the Summit Lift. Top Drive lifts are more energy efficient, where the savings come the lift just pulling the skiers up the mountain, not pushing AND pulling. This cable will also be used to move the Summit chair over to a top drive in the future. The glading continues as well. In addition to the glading that is being done for the runs, the team has also been working on putting in 41 parking spots at the base of the new chair. This is for pass holder convenience as skier services will remain at the main base area.As if we are not busy enough, the upgrades to the lodges are coming along great. The main level will host a new retail outlet that will have more space, meaning more product and more selection. The kitchen is also seeing upgrades which will mean improved food service for our guests.Keep checking back for updates!
