Switchin' it up
Change is in the air with the daylight saving time switch, Whitewater's extended Spring hours and glorious blue bird days. Though we know that winter is not over at WH2O the move to Spring has begun. Feeling a little resistant to change? Or do itch for a switch? Let's switch to the eighth installment of our Speakski* series to explore this concept further.

Switch
verb | \ ˈswich \
1. The action of skiing with your back facing down the hill, otherwise known as skiing backwards or fakie or cab. Depending on which shoulder you choose to look over there are two ways to ski switch, you'll work it out but maybe a good idea to practice on Little Mucker.
2. The decision to pick up a snowboard instead of a pair of skis.
3. Riding a snowboard with the opposite foot forward of how you normally ride, which can be known as goofy depending on whether you are normally goofy or just goofy on occasion.
4. The act of passing your child (or children) over to your partner/husband/wife in the lodge so you can, for a moment or a few runs as it may be, remember what a blissfully self indulgent life you had before you willingly or unwittingly chose responsibility.
5. A change of focus from skiing powder to corn snow.
Switchin' it up can be a simple or complex move depending on how responsive you are to the switch itself. I for one love a good switch. Of course I am referring here to the change in season or change in orientation and the change in perspective that comes with it. Let's not go there with the noun definitions.
