Whitewater Resort Rolls Out Famed Fare with New Fresh Tracks Café Express Food Truck

Whitewater’s Pow Chow Now — Even When The Heat’s On The Street Nelson BC — While it neither looks, sounds or smells like winter as of late, it’s going to taste like it now all year round as Whitewater Ski Resort takes the wrap off its first-ever Fresh Tracks Café Express Food Truck.  The local mountain has taken its award-winning cuisine, dubbed pow chow, to the streets, literally, as their 24-foot kitchen-on-wheels makes its debut in front of the new Whitewater head office, located at 602 Lake Street. According to Whitewater Head Chef Amanda Skidmore, the Fresh Tracks rig is also available for catered weddings, festivals and any other special events. “Many of our guests that enjoy the Fresh Tracks menu at Whitewater often comment that they crave the same culinary experience in the off-season,” says Skidmore. “So now we’re giving folks a taste of Whitewater’s famous fare all year round.” Once the snow starts to fly, the truck will be motored up to the hill and parked beneath a new custom-made shelter at the bottom of the Glory Chair, to serve skiers and snowboarders all winter long.  “We also needed a solution for food service at the bottom of the Glory,” explains Anne Pigeon, Whitewater’s Indoor Operations General Manager,  “and the truck is a really cool billboard on wheels, so we figured it would be a great marketing opportunity, and a great way to keep all the mountain’s guests well-fed for those deep days when they can’t stand to leave their secret stash for the main lodge.” The Whitewater Fresh Tracks Café Express offers a summer menu with some of the same appetizing specialties as the Fresh Tracks Café’s winter line up. During the winter, the truck will have some of the same specials as those being offered at the lodge, prepped by Skidmore and Sous-Chef Jeff Bruce — including daily soups, wraps, tasty curries, grilled burgers, coffee and delicious baked goods normally prepped in the Fresh Tracks kitchen.  The rig is super shiny and easy to spot, says Pigeon, with a deep fryer, oven, a grill, cook top, three sinks, counter space, a freezer and refrigerator, and even a generator for sizzling stints at any remote locations it’s hired to help out at.  If that was not enough, the truck is also equipped with an espresso machine ensuring skiers and the like will have access to the nationally famed and locally roasted Oso Negro coffee.
