Whitewater Ski Resort Summer Mountain Update!
By now you??e possibly almost forgotten what Ymir Peak looks like but I can assure you that it is still up here, standing tall and proud, watching over our dedicated team who are working hard to prepare for next year. For us, and likely many of you, our summer is all about preparation for winter (pretty obvious, right?). Each year has various tasks and projects; here is what we have been working on so far.Bonanza will be a little different this year, 10 meters wider! If you can imagine where you?? take a skiers right to leave Bonanza and head on down to Pay Dirt, this is where the widening starts along the right hand side of the run all the way down to the tower 4 cat road. This is for the purpose of course setting for races for the Whitewater Ski Team. This will allow us to set a better course for zone finals. GO TEAM!
Our trail crew has built a new bridge at the bottom of the Glory chair. Although you might never see this bridge because of the substantial snowfall during the winter, it is just one of many initiatives to minimize our impact in the area. This bridge has been built specifically to help prevent erosion to the creek at the base of Glory. Terra Ratta is getting some love this year, and returning the love too! This old school Fischer ski was found while our trail crew was flagging for run improvements in Terra Ratta. I know, some days this runs seems near perfect already, the crew is only planning to clean up some of the high stumps around the cliffs to make it safer for you to send it.
The largest change so far has been the removal of our trailer that used to live on the south side of the lodge. The trailer has been removed to create space for a first aid room addition, which will increase our first aid room capacity to 3 trauma beds and a treatment table. We will also be able to create a more efficient space for our dispatcher to keep our communications on the mountain flowing smoothly. There are more lodge plans in the works, including a reconfiguration of our Fresh Tracks Caf? to make the system more streamlined - essentially getting the tasty eats in your belly sooner.
Stay tuned for more details about lodge and resort renovations later this summer. To avoid missing any other updates, subscribe to our newsletter and we??l let you know as things progress.
