Avalanche Safety Training courses on Early Bird sale until Dec 5th!

Nigel Ziegler

Nigel was born in Nelson and started skiing from the age of two. When he was 16 years old, he was invited to represent Canada in the Junior Freeride World Championship in Europe where he came in 2nd place. After that, he spent the next 5 years trying to qualify for the Freeride World Tour travelling around North America, however after several serious injuries, he realized that he was pushing himself too hard on skis and needed a change of pace. This will by his third year snowboarding and he has never been happier with the decision to switch.

This season, Nigel plans on touring lots, slaying big lines, and building jumps around the back country. This will also be Nigel's first year attempting to qualify for the Freeride World Tour on his snowboard. Making the tour, whether it’s for skiing or snowboarding, has been a dream of Nigel's for as long as he can remember, but he's really just stoked to reconnect with old friends and to see how it feels to be in the start gate on a regular basis again. His goal is to not take it too seriously and have fun with every turn!
