It’s a relay! It’s an uphill race! It’s a transceiver search! It's a slalom ski! It’s a wilderness fire-building challenge! It’s a culinary masterpiece! It's the ROAM Arc'teryx Backcountry Relay!
This high-energy event is designed to push your backcountry skills while having a blast on the hill and rocking creative costumes.
Teams of two will tackle a series of challenges to test their backcountry skills. The first partner will race uphill, conduct a transceiver search, and dig up a bag containing matches and kindling. After skiing or riding down with the bag, they’ll tag their partner at the bottom. The second partner will race uphill to the same spot, collect an egg, and carefully ski or ride it back down. Then together they’ll build a fire, fry the egg, snap a photo (for best culinary master award), and eat it!
Remember, this is a BYOFP (Bring Your Own Frying Pan) event — your frying pan is the baton each partner must carry to the top of their lap.

Before the relay, we'll ask each team to estimate how long it will take them to complete the entire course. We'll have a podium for the three fastest teams, plus some stellar swag courtesy of our friends at ROAM and Arc'teryx for best costume, best matched time, and best cooked egg. So don't worry if you're not the speediest; just bring your stoke and you could win some incredible prizes.
Cost: $30.00 per person
Gear Required: Skis / Splitboard, helmet, transceiver, shovel, probe, frying pan, and spatula.
Items Provided: Matches, kindling, wood, egg, and cooking oil.
*A Season Pass or Lift Ticket is required. ROAM Arc'teryx Backcountry Relay participants who do not have a Season Pass are eligible for 25% off All Mountain Full-Day Lift Tickets at Guest Services. Any competitors under 19 years of age will need a parent or guardian to sign their Special Events Waiver in order to compete. There will be no refunds for this event.*
